For each match a team of 12 is selected from the Rabbits squad in the preceding week after verifying availabilities, usually using Whatsapp. 

A hot meal accompanied by wine follows the match. The normal match fee for playing being £25.

North London Foxes League

Home and away games are played with eight players selected for the team. The format is 4 four ball better ball matchplay with a mid-afternoon start time on a Thursday.

The league is competitive, but played in good spirits and we have supper with the oppo’ afterwards.

The clubs we play at home & away are Finchley, Hampstead, Hendon, Highgate and North Middlesex.

As 2019 League winners we will be aiming to get our crown back in 2023

Spring and Autumn Meetings

These are stableford, team of 12, competitions between the six clubs in the North London Foxes League.

The 2023 Spring Meeting will be held on Thursday the 27th April at North Middlesex GC. The 2023 Autumn meeting will be held on Thursday the 28th September at Northwood GC.

Abrey Cup

A match-play team knock-out competition against other Middlesex Foxes clubs comprising 9 singles.

Our first match is against Hendon (to be played at Hadley Wood GC) on the 20th April 2023

Tippings Trophy

This is the end of season Foxes trophy. Everyone in the Foxes’ handicap range is welcome to participate. However, the Tippings Trophy is only awarded to a player who has represented the Foxes team during that respective season.

It is a Stableford competition (full handicap) played at Muswell Hill, sponsored by Brian Tippings Date: Thursday 7 th September 2023


SABRES

The Sabres League and Bullivant Bowl teams are selected from members with a WHI of 5.5 or above and both provide competitive inter-club golf for as many members as possible in this handicap category.

Sabres League

The team selection is emailed out a couple of weeks before each match.

The Sabres League is played over 10 games from April to August. We play home and away against Finchley, Hendon, Mill Hill, Enfield and North Middlesex. The format is 4 Ball Better Ball off scratch and there is an informal, light meal after the matches. There is a trophy for the League Winners and the top 4 teams also play for a Knockout Trophy. There is then a further match between the knockout winners of this league and that of West Middlesex.

There is also an End of Season Event (4 Ball Better Ball), which is hosted by one of the Clubs.

Bullivant Bowl

A knockout competition and the format is also 4 Ball Better Ball off scratch. 3 pairs play over two legs, Home & Away.


TIGERS

The Tigers Team plays in the Middlesex Tigers League. We play 3 home and 3 away matches in the league, hoping to finish in the top 2 and qualify for the semi-final. The match format is 8 singles match-play off scratch. The Tigers Team is selected from members with a WHI of 2.0 and above. Generally anyone with a single figure handicap will be considered for the squad.

The team selection is emailed out a couple of weeks before each match. Fixtures are listed  here and in the online club diary.

MEN'S SCRATCH

Teams are picked at least a week before each fixture. All matches are knock-out and the fixtures for upcoming games are posted on the Club website.The Scratch Team is picked from the best players in the Club. The Team Captain has a list of all the lowest players in the Club and picks the team according to handicap and form. If you are a new member with a WHI of 4.4 or below and wish to know more about playing for the Scratch Team, please contact Steve Walsom.

Thornton Cup
This is competed for by all of the Clubs in Essex as well as a few from Middlesex (including us) and one from Hertfordshire. Teams of 10 compete over 36 holes of match-play, with five foursomes matches in the morning and 10 singles matches in the afternoon.

Rowse Trophy
This is competed for by all the Clubs in Middlesex. Teams of eight compete over 36 holes match-play, with four foursomes matches in the morning and eight singles matches in the afternoon.

President’s Foursomes
This is competed for by all the Clubs in Middlesex. Teams of six compete over three foursomes matches with the second round of the competition played over two legs and every other round played over one.

 
MIDDLESEX SIXES

The Middlesex Sixes is a knock out county competition.

The team consists of six players none of whom may have played in the MCGU Club Team Match Play Championship (The Frank Rowse Trophy) or the MCGU Presidents Foursomes during the same calendar year.

All players must be aged 18 or over on 1st January of the year of the tournament. Different players may be selected by the club for each round.

On the day that a round is played, two players must have a WHI of not less than 5.5, two players must have a WHI of not less than 10.5 and two players must have a WHI of not less than 15.5.

WEEKEND LADIES' FRIENDLIES

Usually a team of 8, open to members who have a WHI of 36 and below. Matches run from April to October, home or away. This is a great introduction to team golf, playing with and meeting people from other clubs. Sign up sheets are posted on the board at the bottom of the stairs under the ladies locker room. The aim is for all who sign up to get an oppurtunity to play.

PEARSONS TROPHY

A squad of 7 players represent the club in the county handicap league along with two reserves. WHI must be 12.5 to 34.4. A draw of the clubs entering the competition is conducted in September and each club in each group play home and away.  Games are played on week days only during November - May and group winners advance to the County semi-final & final which takes place in June. The winning club at the County Final advance to the Inter-County Final.  The Inter-Counties consist of Middlesex, Kent, Surrey and Hertfordshire. Each county take it in turns to host the final in July. The Team Captain will contact all players eligible to play and will advise dates for each game which will also be posted on the noticeboard in the hallway outside the Small Function room.

LADIES SCRATCH

The Team Captain contacts players eligible to play and advises players of the dates for each game, which will also be posted on the Ladies’ noticeboard in the club. The team is selected on the lowest handicappers available for each match. The league tables will also be posted on the notice board regularly throughout the season.

A team of 5 players with the lowest handicaps available on the day of the match represent Muswell Hill in the Middlesex County scratch league (backed up by a non-travelling reserve).

Muswell Hill’s First team currently plays in Division 1. Division 1 is split into 2 pools 1A and 1B and teams are drawn, each club in each pool will play home and away.  Games are played on the weekends during March - August and the final for the top 2 teams in each pool takes place on a date decided by Middlesex Golf.
